The selection tray

A jeweler walks the whole inventory as photographed plates, as a ledger, or side by side. One tick gathers a stone; Compare lines the gathered stones up by carat, size, origin and treatment, and the trade price appears once their account is approved.

How it was built

  1. It adds and replaces nothing: it reads the product data the shop’s existing search engine already prints on every card and redraws it as a tray, a ledger or a comparison.
  2. Prices are grafted in on the server, after the cache, for approved trade members only. A visitor’s page never holds a figure to hide.
  3. The picks keep the order the buyer chose, then the order they drag the columns into, and follow them from one category to the next.
  4. A selection ends in a memo request through the shop’s existing member endpoint, not a second path built beside it.

The jewelry builder

Pick a real gemstone from the shop and the builder draws a ring around it at the stone’s measured size, while you watch. Change the head, the band or the metal, turn it with a finger, and the consult’s starting price moves with every change.

One design in four metals. 14K white, 14K rose, platinum, then 14K yellow, around a matched pair of white zircons. The starting price reads $785 in 14K and $1,280 in platinum. cavemangems.com · 1382px

How it was built

  1. The mounting is computed, not modeled: one pure function turns the stone’s recorded length, width and depth into closed meshes for the band, shoulders, prongs and gallery, in millimeters.
  2. Bench rules are written as numbers. A prong roots half a millimeter into the band, and its tip stops at 0.8 of the crown’s height.
  3. When a stone stands too tall for a band, the builder says so in one sentence and suggests a style that fits, instead of quietly reshaping the band.
  4. three.js draws it in the browser, inside the shop’s own WordPress plugin, beside the catalog the stones come from.
